Project implementation is supported by the Central Financing and Contracting Agency Q4 2021 update

LightSpace Technologies, Ltd. in cooperation with EUROLCDS, Ltd. has successfully finished the Q4 of the project “Development of multi-plane volumetric display screen with improved optical performance by utilization of polymer interlayer lamination” 2021 (Project number project number 1.1.1.1/19/A/070)

During Q4further research and development steps have been defined to achieve objectives of the project till it’s deadline. CFCA kindly accepted amending project agreement according developed project implementation plan. This will ensure achieving project objectives. Major changes are related to focus on small scale diffuser element lamination procedure development (micro-diffusers) instead of large-scale diffusers, thus improving project effectiveness by reducing forecasted total material costs, but achieving planed results of the project.

Additionally, during Q4 we have received experts evaluation of mid-term report from CFCA, which notify that there are no doubts basing on achieved results so far, that main objectives of the project will be achieved till the end of the project.

Total planned project costs are 0.85 million EUR, including ineligible costs 56 thousand EUR and private funding 205 thousand EUR, which will be covered by companies own resources and European Union Regional Development Fund funding 586 872.72 EUR.

Project implementation is supported by the Central Financing and Contracting Agency Q2 2021 update

Lightspace Technologies, Ltd. in cooperation with EUROLCDS, Ltd. has successfully finished the Q2 of the project “Development of multi-plane volumetric display screen with improved optical performance by utilization of polymer interlayer lamination” 2021 (Project number project number 1.1.1.1/19/A/070)

During Q2, we have operated in whole main activities. We will continue to be at this state at least until the end of this year. During Q2, we have started integration of samples prepared in previous time slots and at the same time started to evaluate possibilities of new approach on lamination procedures. We are quite confident that new procedures will result in better characteristics of laminated displays, but it’s still in theoretical evaluation phase. Most probably we will achieve tested and evaluated results closer to the end of this year or beginning of next year.

At the same time we are continuing testing, evaluation and integration process of prepared samples and gathering results achieved until this moment to include in mid-term report, which have to be submitted until the end of September, 2021.

Total planned project costs are 0.85 million EUR, including ineligible costs 56 thousand EUR and private funding 205 thousand EUR, which will be covered by companies own resources and European Union Regional Development Fund funding of 586 872.72 EUR.

Project implementation is supported by the Central Financing and Contracting Agency Q1 2021 update

Lightspace Technologies, Ltd. in cooperation with EUROLCDS, Ltd. has successfully finished the Q1 of the project “Development of multi-plane volumetric display screen with improved optical performance by utilization of polymer interlayer lamination” 2021 (Project number project number 1.1.1.1/19/A/070)

During Q1, additionally to continued work on the first two activities – research on available optical compounds and model experimentation and development of lamination procedures, we have started to work on upscaling of screen by tiling approach, which is content of 3rd activity, as first laminated diffuser screen module prototype has been assembled and tested.

During project implementation we are considering possible additional variations of lamination procedure improvement and new optical compound variations evaluation.

Total planned project costs are 0.85 million EUR, including ineligible costs 56 thousand EUR and private funding 205 thousand EUR, which will be covered by companies own resources and European Union Regional Development Fund funding of 586 872.72 EUR.

Project implementation is supported by the Central Financing and Contracting Agency Q4 2020 update

During Q4 mainly Lightspace jointly with EuroLCDS have been working on first two activities – research on available optical compounds and model experimentation and development of lamination procedures, which is planned to continue during whole 2021.

Project team has already found first appropriate optical compound samples and executed first trials of lamination procedures. Initial characterisation started with setting up proper testing setup. Beginning of Q1 2021 expecting to see first testing results to evaluate necessity for new optical compound variations and lamination procedure improvement.

Project 1.1.1.1/19/A/070 “Development of multi-plane volumetric display screen with improved optical performance by utilization of polymer interlayer lamination”

Lightspace Technologies SIA has signed a contract with Central Finance and Contracting Agency of the Republic of Latvia (CFLA) for project 1.1.1.1/19/A/70. The project shall be carried out in cooperation with a partner EUROLCDS SIA.

The main direct objective of the proposed project is to develop laminated multi-plane volumetric screen module by utilizing refractive index-matched polymer interlayers (bonding layers and optionally spacing layers) and a corresponding manufacturing methodology.

The actions of the proposed project are oriented towards development and strengthening of a knowledge-base in key-technological fields which include optical polymers. Moreover, the proposed project will promote development of human capital in fields of optical materials and multi layer volumetric imaging engineering by offering individual growth to young researchers and engineers tackling the problems of the proposed project, thus adding to the already existing extensive knowledge-base of Lightspace Technologies and EUROLCDS.

The foreseen duration of the proposed project is 24 months, starting on September 8, 2020. The total planned cost of the project is 840’000 EUR, consisting of 586’872 EUR public ERDF funding and 205’000 EUR private funding.

Projekts 1.1.1.1/19/A/070 “Daudzslāņu volumetrisku displeja ekrānu optisko īpašību uzlabošanu, izmantojot starpslāņu laminēšanu ar optiskajiem polimēriem.”

EUR, t.sk. ERAF finansējums 586 872.72 EUR un privātais finansējums 205 000,00.
